The New Hanoian

A real student’s pub - if you want to re-live your youth, or your still in it, then you’ll really like this place. It’s deceptively huge, over 2 floors but goes back a long way. Downstairs looks like a student uni bar at the front and pool hall at the back. Upstairs there are a couple more rooms for more laid back drinking and shisha, one with comfy sofas and one with mats and low tables for sitting on the floor.

It’s got that “lived in, hasn’t been painted for a decade, walls full of old smoke” kind of feel, which some people will love, but if that’s not your thing then you’ll probably hate it so steer clear. (The photos posted here look far more glossy than it is in reality - it’s obviously had a lot of wear and tear since it’s last make over, and is now looking more than a little tired.)

Sometimes head in here. As previously stated can get rather busy but if your a little short on cash and fancy chatting to some local Vietnamese not a bad a place to go. Its very popular on the weekends with locals.

The music is not particular to my taste but I like the atmosphere.

yeah 20k beers (Halida) is good enough but cant get the scheme yet, shisha, pool, pick-up, what?

Dragonfly is a pretty decent place to go when you need to kick it back a bit, preferably with some friends.

You should head there a bit early though or else it get really crowded. You might want to take your shoes with you if you go into the shisha lounge.

The service could be a bit better at times though, plus maybe clean the bathrooms once a while.

Oh yeah, and attention foreign blokes: stop chatting up my friends when your piss ass drunk. On the whole its not very attractive. ~
