Old Hanoi is a restaurant set in a renovated French villa with a beautiful adjoining terrace. We serve authentic, traditional food from Hanoi and Vietnam. Old Hanoi emphasises the use of fresh quality ingredients, sourced locally, aimed at keeping our flavours truly Hanoian. Our restaurant's main hall is decorated with artifacts from around Vietnam as well as historical pictures of Old Hanoi. Our wider calling is to keep Vietnam's diverse heritage alive. Old Hanoi offers those who wish for a quieter atmosphere the use of one of three VIP rooms or dining on the terrace. In addition, Old Hanoi offers an extensive wine list from around the world. All our wines are kept at strictly controlled temperatures to keep the wine in a great condition with the perfect taste.
We stopped in here for a beer and a relax on a hot day ages ago, and it was great. I don't usually drink dark beer, but my husband ordered it, and it was actually quite nice when I had a sip! The food was quite good, too. I will agree with flightmedicine about the 2nd floor - great to chill myself along with the beer.
I haven't been back in months, but I hope it is still as good as I remember!

When they plunked down the .5 L of beer in front of us, I thought I was back in Eastern Europe. The beer was tasty - we tried both the "yellow" beer and the dark beer.
The decor's nice, with random things strewn all over the walls. We sat down next to a suit of Kendo armor.
We had the spring rolls, which were good, and we couldn't resist trying the goulash, which was also good (though, of course, not the same as real Eastern European fare.)
And a side bonus - a scrawny but adorable kitten wandered around under the tables, first begging for food but then playing with us.

Yeah great place to get dark beer I perfer the windmill, but second place ain;t bad, and I would say of all the dark beer joints in town this one has the best food, also I never thought of this as a tourist place I don't know if I've ever even seen a tourist in it, great place to get sloshed with a group of friends but, don't waste your time or money on the scoption you only get one tiny one for the ten K, but the black bread and golash is very nice
