You come here for the view. No doubt. I was there early one night with a friend and it was deserted. But the cocktails were nice and it's a great place to go when you're sick of the usual spots (see: all of Old Quarter). Take visitors here to show them the city it all it's unfinished-construction glory.

Yeah, I can't add anything that hasn't been said before. Their dark beer is to die for and a great antidote when you're sick of bia hoi lightness. Food is good and the ambiance is nice. Good place for a group and not expensive.

Got to say, this place is great. Food was fantastic and the wine selections were great (and the red served at the correct temperature). And this isn't good food by Hanoi standards, it's straight up good. I'm definitely going back for special occasions (it is pricey).

I hate to be predictable, but I have to give VIP Bikes five stars as well! I went on the below recommendations and it was one of the few hassle-free experiences upon arriving in Hanoi.
The service is what makes it. Andrew is very friendly and accommodating. He picked me up, took me over to the shop, walked me through their rental and maintenance policies and, of course, gave me a tutorial on the bike. I'm new to mopeds and before renting, he took me out and let me get a feel for the bike. I can say that, after only a week or so, I feel very comfortable on the bike. I feel even more comfortable knowing that I can call Andrew at the drop of a hat if problems arise.
If you're like me and nervous about joining the crazy throng of Hanoian drivers, VIP Bikes is the place to go for a calming rental experience.

I'll be moving to Hanoi for 5 months and (surprise!) would like to have my girlfriend come out and visit during that time. Only problem: airfare from the East Coast of the U.S. to Hanoi is expensive! Would flights be significantly cheaper working through an agent once I get to Hanoi? Cruising the internet hasn't been very promising ($1800US for an August trip). Any general tips? Thanks much and I can't wait to get out there.

Dang! I'm looking for the same thing. I'm an NFL fan but I'd take any football I can get (D3 Loyola-St. Johns if need be). If you do find anything, please let me know. I'll do the same.
In response to the question: Are there any places showing american college football games on saturday nights? I am trying to find a pub or bar that is playing some games live....
