This is a well-run, solid restaurant. The dark wood interior feels permanent and warm, and although the largely Japanese patrons at the counter seemed mostly regulars, businessmen with their personal sake bottles stored on the racks behind the bar, we didn't feel out of place eating here; people just mind their own business.
That said, we didn't hit on anything particularly spectacular to eat; most likely this is because I don't know how to order in a japanese restaurant. Everything was good, though.
Prices seem on the high end of medium, but all round it was a satisfactory experience, if mostly for the ambience.

I have no experience with the Hue train but on the Sapa train, 'hard sleeper' means you're six to a cabin instead of four and the mattresses are thinner.
In response to the question: We're a day away from leaving for Hue by train (wow, that rhymed!) Anyway, they were sold out of "soft sleeper" berths, so we got "hard sleeper."...
