Met friends for dinner and drinks here the other night and was pleasantly surprised. Great location, very nice meal and friendly, attentive staff. No, it's not the cheapest place in Ha Noi and the wine list was a bit pricey, but they mixed a mean G&T (and after a long week at work that's priceless!) Will certainly be going back.

Great place - they also do roast chickens, and have a good selection of salamis. Marco, the owner/manager, is still stocking the store, so more is being added on a regular basis. I understand from their flyer they can also provide catering.

Good service and chocolate brownies to die for! Yeah, the decor's a bit kitsch, but that's all part of the fun. Kinda wish it wasn't so close to where I live though - dangerous!

Easily the best cappuccino in town, and friendly attentive staff. Deservedly a winner!

Brand new and staff still on training wheels (it'll take 4-5 people to cut a piece of cheese and wrap it!). But good selection of wine, cheese (mmm stilton), deli meats and other delicacies. Handy for those of us in deepest darkest Xuan Dieu. They'll deliver to Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem and Hai Ba Trung areas too.

Hi - I'm moving to Xuan Dieu shortly and will be commuting to work near HK lake each day. I know, I know, I could buy a motorbike, but I'm a wimp!!! Can anyone out there recommend a good car and driver? Or is there anyone in the same situation who wants to share a taxi? Looking to leave home just before 8am and leave the city around 6-ish. Thanks.
Can anyone recommend a good picture framer? I've seen heaps of art places around, but don't know what the workmanship is like. Not looking for anything fancy, just plain frames and decent glass, well sealed to stop that black furry textured look we all know so well!

Hi there - yes, there are regular Saturday runs. Check out the Hash's website on http://www.hanoih3.com - it has all the info you need on where the next run is and how to get there.
In response to the question: Is there a regular saturday run for the harriers. If yes, what time and where does it go from? Are there any other running groups in Hanoi?...

Go to the Citimart in Hanoi Towers and look for a product called "Vegy" (for some reason, it's usually beside the laundry detergents!). Pale green container with piccies of fruit and vege on the front. Drop a capful into two litres of water, soak your produce in it for three minutes, and rinse. Great stuff!
In response to the question: Does anyone know where raw vegetable purifying solution can be purchased and if it is even worthwhile? We'd like to start eating salads again but are ...

Cho Am Phu (19-12 Market on Hai Ba Trung) has strawberries - haven't tried them yet so can't comment on flavour, but they look good!
In response to the question: Does anyone know where I can buy berries? I would prefer fresh ones but frozen would work as well. Thanks!...

Try www.petsonthego.com - they should be able to tell you what the current regulations are. But as Hanoikiwi has mentioned, getting animals in and out of Australia and NZ is pretty tough. Good luck!
In response to the question: Anyone have any experience moving pets out of Viet Nam? Or know someone who does? I'm looking for information on where to go for all the necessary ...

The fruit and vege here are delicious and actually taste like they should (rather than the artificially ripened stuff you get in more "developed" countries). However, remember to wash them well to remove any chemicals or other nasties - you might want to buy some vege wash to help with this.
Not sure where you're living, but the 19-12 Market on Hai Ba Trung (just down from Hanoi Towers) has a good selection of everything you'll need. You'll have to do a bit of bargaining though!
Otherwise, Natinnam is right. Veggy's has a good selection and helpful staff. They're on Xuan Dieu (the end away from the Sheraton).
Happy hunting!

Thank you peoples - haven't laughed so much in ages (and will never look at a fruit bowl the same way again). I think the Ha Noi chapter of Sex and the City should meet up. How about it? (am female by the way).

I've used Hanoi Towers for pedicures and manicures, and can highly recommend them. Probably not the cheapest in town, but they do a good job.
