I am probably one of the most germophobic people you will meet when it comes to eating in Asia so the first thing I thought when I walked into this restaurant was "wow, this place is trappy as hell". Surprisingly, it was also some of the best Asian food I've had since I've been over here. The food came so quick that for a second I thought they might have just microwaved it but it all tasted fresh and well seasoned. I had the moutainous sticky rice, sauteed chicken with chilis, and the cabbage and garlic. All were fantastic. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because its looks kind of dirty and it's hot as hell. The food is great though. I definitely recommend it.

I was surpised at how nice of a venue this is. The bar has a very nice set-up and with the right music and crowd could be a great club to go to on the weekends. If it ever catches on,it will be the next big thing in Hanoi. It has a great view of the city and very relaxed atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

I have always been a little skeptical of Pizza Huts in Asia because the pizzas never seem to look right in pictures. But, I had this today and I must admit that it tasted exactly like back home. Even down to burning the shit out of the roof of my mouth. Definitely recommend the supreme pan with no mushrooms and no onions.

This place by far has my favorite music in Hanoi. I'm from the US and I love hip hop and they always surprise me by having songs that I never knew made it over here. Although there is no real good dancing, I do like going there to drink the cheap drinks, listen to the good music, and watch people dance badly. Good place.

Hello,
I'm an American and I will be arriving in Hanoi on January 5. I will need an apartment or house for rent. I would prefer something with two bedrooms or more in the Hoan Kiem District. It's important that the place be nice inside and have access to high speed internet, and cable tv with channels like HBO, CNN, etc. How much should I be paying for something like that?

Two questions:
1. Is there anywhere to watch US college basketball games. I'm a huge UNC fan and college basketball is my favortie sport.
2. Are there places to play pick-up basketball games? If you know of any please let me know. I would love to get in some games in my spare time.

Hey I wanted to know if anyone could recommend a good cheap private tutor so that I can learn Mandarin. I KNOW, we're in Vietnam but I'm honestly not that interested in learning Vietnamese. Mandarin is more useful for my work. Thanks.
Hey, I'm really interested in starting to feel more like a part of the community and I think the best way to do that would be through volunteer work or something. I don't speak Vietnamese at all so I'm not sure how much of a problem that is. I really like children so that would be good. Thanks

Miss Hanoi: I work a lot so it's very possible that I just haven't seen enough. I usually like short cute girls with big butts, lol. ANd yes, my gf fits my mold exactly, but I still can usually scout good talent even if I'm not interested. um, in another case of me keeping an eye out, I saw more vibrator type items this weekend. If you go to the electronic store on the 3rd floor of Vincom Tower they have a shelf full of "massagers", some of which are shaped very dildo-like. You should check it out.

The Truch Bach Lake area would cut your commute down to about 35 minutes. I travel a lot for work and I live on right on Truch Bach Lake so I'm pretty familiar with the travel time.

I personally don't trust Durex. They feel smaller and I had one break on me when I was younger. I suggest sticking to the Trojans they have in Citimart in Hanoi Tower.

I am a big fan of Dragonfly and Solace on Saturdays. They have good hip hop but its definitely not a chill loungy atmosphere if that's what you're looking for. I also go to a restaurant called Daluva in To Ngoc Van which is really laid back and the owners are super cool and friendly. Depends on what kind of mood you're in.

I'm a city boy so I prefer HCM. Hanoi can be very boring at times and has the feel that you're roughing it (indefinitely). With that said, Hanoi is easier to get around without a car and you will learn the city faster than you would HCM.

My landlord is telling me that EVN raised their rate over the last 3 months and the new commercial rate they pay is now 3,400 per kWh. I don't really believe this and have told them that I need to see the documentation. I just wanted to know if anyone knows for sure what the commercial rate is. Thanks.

lots of taxi scams such as taking you all over the world and souped up meters (only take taxis that have their meters enclosed in that glass thing). Also be careful as that people will try to get you when you rent an apartment. Inflated rents and inflated utility bills.

Thanks for your input. I made my landlord give me a coy of the official bill the electricity company sent them and low and behold all of a sudden the rate was back down to 1738/kwh after 10% VAT. So yeah, they were definitely trying to swindle the boy.
