Italians are fiercely partisan, divided about almost anything, from politics to soccer to language or history and geography but what always unites them is love for food and wine and social gatherings. One of the great Italian institutions is the Salumiere (the name will vary from town to town, another division), the traditional neighborhood grocery selling a bit of everything. What one will always find in these stores is a counter dedicated to cheese and cold cuts with (as you can see from the photos) an amazing, enormous selection of products from all over Italy and an equally astonishing selection of breads to go with them. An Italian dinner is not complete without some cheese and cold meats, very often cheese and ham or salami are the dinner itself. Italians having a good time at some Trattoria or Osteria will always order a big mixed platter to share and go with some good wine. And when we roll out the big guns (on every possible occasion in fact) and have a Pranzo, with the whole family , friends and relatives celebrating something around a table, be it at home or in a restaurant, cheese and cold cuts will be there, as Antipasto, between courses and possibly at the end, before the desserts come out.
We miss this and want to recreate the atmosphere and the unique blend of taste, aroma, color and ,let me say it, culture. This is our reason for offering, every Friday evening at our new Festa restaurant at nr.19 Ngoc Ha
an enormous gourmet platter of selected cheeses, cold cuts and other Italian delicacies traditionally served with them,an assortment of bread, focaccia and grissini,
paired with 3 different wines and one of our home-made liquors
at the price of VND220.000
