also how is it for pet dogs there, re, places to walk them, parks ,pet shops... and whatnot, landlords attitudes toward renting to pet owners, and of course local attitudes towards dogs as pets.

thank you very much for the response. my dogs are pugs, they are actually originally from thailand and bali... so they know asia!hopefully thats not a common menu breed???!!!
as to the housing with them question, do you find its hard to find a rental with a dog? should we tell the landlord before,or after? its very uncommon then to have garden or outdoor space then...too bad!
sorry for so many questions...
cheers

wow. wonderful! is this because of the fact the locals eat dog? bali had a serious problom with dognapping for ransom, bangkok had no such worries, but serious worries about strays...is it really that they would want to eat my little chinese pugs???

thank you both for the good responses. funny, i thought they might be kind of common there. there were loads in bangkok, and very cheap... our girl was only 35pounds sterling!i assumed because they are originally from china we may find lots in vietnam too. well we will just have to keep them close, we did in bali too.. a shame but to be expected i guess if they are worth loads.
one last question , if its possible..
anyone know of a guesthouse or cheap hotel that will take us with the dogs until we find a place? were on a budget, but not backpackers.....
cheers

ya i know, i know! my husband actually works in mining in australia, and part of the reason i live in south east asia, is because the dogs would have to go through a terrible quarantine to go to australia. also its much cheaper to live in asia, and frankly nicer!
