A music club is like a book club. This is how it works: Once a month all the group members -- ideally about 8 to 10 -- meet at a bar/restaurant. Each member brings with them X-amount of copies of a CD that they absolutely love and don't think anyone else has. The CD can be an up-and-coming band/singer, a band/singer under the radar, a famous band/singer who has an album that nobody knows, etc. The sky is the limit as long as you love it. At the meeting you say why you brought your album and then pass out your music to everyone else. At the end of the meeting you walk away with X-amount of CDs.

At the next month's meeting everyone talks about the music and says what they liked and didn't like. You then vote for the best CD and the worst CD. Whoever gets the best CD takes home a trophy for the month. Whoever gets the worst CD is ridiculed by everyone else.

I started one of these in Los Angeles (where I just moved from) and it was a huge hit. Every month you get ten new albums to listen to. It's a great way to expand your music knowledge -- and collection -- and fun way to meet new people. If you're interested in joining drop me an email (august100@gmail.com).
