Current visa prices

Hi,

Anyone out there been out and about shopping for visa extension quotes recently? Got one saturday from tropical tours for a six month multiple entry business visa, $135. What do you think, pricey or somewhere near the going rate. If the former, alternative suggestions would be much appreciated!

$135 is exactly what I was quoted at Ngoc Dung (http://www.newhanoian.com/details/venueid/961).

In the past I've seen a range of prices, so it's odd that we both got the same quote. Perhaps the market is stabilizing.

Anyway, this is the right ballpark for visas. Bear in mind that you can extend a B3 visa once for another 6 months. This time around that's costing me $105, but in the past I've had it as cheap as $45. The downside to the extension is that it becomes a single entry visa, so you'd lose it if you re-entered the country.

It would be nice to see a range of the prices that people are paying, for the record.

A beer in a back alley of Hong Kong.

I just paid $60 for a new 6 month-ish business visa. I say "six month-ish" because we just found out that if I ask for a 5 month, 25 day visa (which you can apparently do), it only costs $60. Get that extra five days, and it's $110. This is from the official office on Hang Bai street (across from the Theatre), so you can also expect to pay a little something extra to grease the works. 200,000vnd in the envelope with your documents seems speed things up nicely. Without that, you will be repeatedly sent home to make "corrections". Also, the status of your existing visa is pretty important. You'll need a "sponsor/employer" who can vouch for your status. That's why the agencies do such a rollicking business. They "arrange" such sponsorship.

All in all, if you've got a good Vietnamese friend who you think would help you out, you can cut that $135 fee nearly in half. It's going to involve paperwork, plenty of running around, and the usual bureaucratic headaches. These include:

1) Get the N14/M form from the office on Hang Bai

2) Get confirmation of residence from the local police station in your neighborhood (a good landlord should do this for you...or expect to have to give a little something (200k) to the police as well).

3) Get proof of sponsorship/employment

4) Take all forms as passport back to the Hang Bai office with $60 (+200k).

5) Wait three days.

All told, that comes to about $85.

None of these steps are as easy as walking into a tourist agency and saying, "I want to stay longer."

Your choice.

$60 for a 3 month B3 multiple entry visa. Done through work and there are two stamps - $10 fee paid for the residency allowance and $50 fee paid for the visa itself - so I know the staff didn't short me. Not that they would, but still..

I would start getting more concerned about this. Work-permits are starting to gain momentum and are convenient to have if
you intend to stay a long time and want a tax rebate.

100 USD for six months multiple from my friend who owns a travel agency. No extra charges on that. So must be the correct price. I got a visa extension from a generic travel agency before and they wacked 40 USD on the cost.

Everyone here seems to be so knowledgeable about this stuff! I'm a US citizen and I'm planning on flying over to Vietnam in August to prepare to teach English. I'd love some help figuring out the best way to get my Visa.

A multiple-month visa sounds great, but can I get one and is that what I need? I don't yet know where/when I'll be teaching English, but I know that I won't be done with my English-teaching-training course until about 35 days after I arrive in Vietnam. After the course, I'd like to take a week or so to travel around cambodia/laos, and then come back into Vietnam to teach.

Does anyone have any recommendations or referrals to agencies that could help me get the best deal on my visa situation for what I have planned?

Hey suwing, if you're in HCMC go to Chi's cafe. Hanoi, Flaminco Travel. Come on a tourist visa and update it to a business visa when you're here.
$90 in HCMC
$120 in Ha Noi
Most people don't bother getting a work permit. If everything was legal in this country, the boys in green wouldn't have their "extra income". Just the way they like it.

Hey,

I just wanted to see if anyone has any updates regarding the 6 month mulitiple entry visa? (costs and where)

My work is saying the gov. won't give out 6 m-entries without a work permit...mine is "in the works", does anyone know of a place that will come pick up the passport and do the visa?

Hey, I just got a multi-entry business visa 5 month extension last week and it cost work $150US. Work got it delivered to the office so maybe they added a delivery fee.

Can someone suggest some good agencies/people who can arrange a 6 month Business visa extension? I'm looking for a easy, no hassle and professional place.

Also, what are the recent prices for 6 month visas? Are there different prices for extensions?

I went to tropical tours this week, and was offered a month visa extension for $20. Then they realized I had a category A3 visa so the price was bumped up to $55. It would also be about $150 for a 6 mo. multi-entry visa. But, again, this is due to my having a "A3" so they couldn't extend the visa have to buy a new one and change it to a tourist visa.

I've been told by a reputable visa agent that a true six-month "tourist" visa is impossible to get. All of the six-month visas fall under some type of "business" category. It doesn't really matter whether you're doing business or not, they can be arranged easily.

Right now at Asiana Travel we are selling the six-month visa for around $120-$125, depending on the country of origin.

Ask around as they are fairly new, but some places are offering 1 year now.

I went to the immigration office on Hang Bai Street, and they refused to even consider giving me a new visa. They said I had to go to a travel agency. I'll try again next week, because that is just ridiculous to me.. not even a price quote.
