You're joking, right?

Why would someone who speaks English, Chinese and German in addition to Vietnamese be willing to work for $100 a month doing anything--much less cook you weiner-snitzel chow-mein, bangers and mash for dinner and wash your knickers?

You're havin' a larf mate!

For a $100 a month, you can get a fine housekeeper. Why do you need to talk to her so much? She'll see what needs to be done. I just smile and grunt and give pantomime shows to ours--she gets it-and she's great.

That said, ha ha, pretty funny. You are quite the joker.

The price is a bit more than what we were paying our housekeeper for the same dutes, in China - she was with us for almost three years. On other posts, some have been suggesting the going prices are almost double this. :-(

As for languages, well, as you say, why would someone with four languages be working as a houseeper - glad you found, and enjoyed, the joke :-)

yes, i know one who speaks all these languages fluently + ancient Egyptian, and has a degree in bio engineering from MIT and an MBA from Oxford, on top of being a black belt with 6 dan in aikido.

She is 19 years old and works for 89.99$/month.

are you interested?

Hi original poster

have you managed to find a good housekeeper at the end?

I am looking for a live-in domestic helper. Would appreciate if you can perhaps share your experience or if you have any advice.

Thanks

Hi Hannah,

the OP was somewhat "tongue in cheek" especially regarding the language side of things, however the pay rate was more serious.

In the end we decided to go with "Maid in Vietnam". We're now on our second housekeeper and while she is a nice woman, the language communicaiton issue is still a serious point of concern.

Hope that helps you.

Hi Hanoians
I want to be a house-keeper. Could any of you recommend me a boss.
I can speak 3 languages. I can cook some Western and Vietnamese food ( 3 days per week)
All I need is:
- A private room to stay in
- A handsome and interesting single boss
- and only 99$/month
:))
How's that sound

This all reminds me of that antique joke:

What is the definition of the perfect woman?
A deaf and dumb, nymphomaniac whose father owns a pub and who turns into a pizza after sex.

But what is the definition of the perfect maid? I shudder to think...

roflmao!

I have a maid, via "Maid in Vietnam". She cost me about $130 per month. She theoretically works, half day x 5 per week. Speaks a little English, not much. Doesn't speak German or Chinese.

Certainly not a "super maid."

The OP was a tongue in cheek response to other postings about looking for a maid. However, like with all humour, it did have it's slightly serious side to it.

At the time, we were looking for a maid and our price range was clouded somewhat by our experience in China, which does not translte very well to Hanoi.

The languages were what we spoke at home - my wife is German, the nanny was Chinese and I'm Australian, hence needing someone who could speak English (because I can't he he.)

It's funny how this thread has recently blossomed, somewhat creepy, somewhat funny. Love it!.
