It's goood.
Possible improvements:
The Hummus needs more Tahini and more garlic/lemon/spices and there was one weird dessert called Panacotta (it wants to be flan, but it's french) but the two visits there (and about 8 dishes I've sampled with friends) have me sold :-)

The upstairs area is a pretty cool hang, but the food's fairly average Viet Nam. I'm not a coffee drinker or a cafe-internet user, so maybe I'm not the target demographic for this place.
I tend to feel guilty about many people telling me how good a place is only to have to tell them I didn't really like it. Sorry guys, I wish it was better so I'd like it more!

I've been here a few times as a guest and as a patron AND as a performer with the Van Ho Ba. There's no kitty running around but there could be one later if you order your date the warm & luscious chocolate pudding.

1. I'd like to make some music with expats. I play trumpet and sing - mostly jazz, but I'm up for whatever grooves. Let's jam, make a band etc
2. I'm a photographer, looking for interesting subjects in motion. If anyone is into any extreme sports like skating, parkour (or possibly martial arts), hit me up.

Salt & Vinegar may be in short supply but if you're looking for specifically "Kettle Chips" as we eat in my native Texas then those are plentifully available in at least 3 flavors at the grocery store on Cat Linh nearest the Horison Hotel (just before the tile/interiors shop). They also sell Spiracha sauce from Thailand (mmm) and I grabbed their last Tabasco sauces . . . he he
They probably have some extra western food there (like kettle chips) because it's right next to the British Council (not Consul) -good choices in Chocolate too, but not the place for vegetable shopping.

"Big C" is the place to go. It's on your way going out of town toward the convention center.
And ditto about Giang Vo, there are two Hapro Marts on that street - one being a grocery store, the other for electrical/electronic goods, but Big C is the cheapest and has the best selecion. Think Super Wal-Mart or a small "Big Lots" or if you're from Mexico, La Soriana.
Be sure to purchase a LiOA voltage converter if you plan to be using important electronics; read the writing on your electronics or its documentation. I found out the hard way. Good Luck!

Hey, I'm a photographer and wanted to grab some cool skating photos, so if you can do a bit more than the general ollie, kickflip & curb grind then I'd be down for photographing some cool jumps/handrails.
PS - I used to skate a while back, but inline.

Yo hablo español igual como mi hermana, pero nuestra lingua franca es inglés. El Viernes conocí a un hombre Australiano que también habla español. Parece que no hay mucha gente de orígen hispano en Viet Nam.
De hecho quiero contactar a la embajada de México para ver si hay gente con quien puedo tocar música Mariachi.

I ate Mexican food at least 4 times a week until I moved to Australia when I turned 18. It's in my blood.
Build it and they will come. Just make sure it's AUTHENTIC and awesome so they will stay.

Out of the expat community, there are more eligible women than men in Ha Noi. Both groups are equally strange, which makes finding a romantic interest difficult on both sides. Even though this generally works in the favor of men, the ladies should know that we men also face many misadventures in Ha Noi.
MissKiss is correct: "the people who you DON'T see out and about boozy at Mao's or around the traps are generally the ones you want to meet!" It's no conspiracy theory, just uncommon sense. Ha Noi has a startling alcohol problem, and the more you can distance yourself from it the better off you will be - and the more likely you will find yourself a lovely lover.
So go for a run, walk a dog, ride a bicycle, play music, go to a pilates class, draw pictures, join and organization like the Ha Noi International Women's club (HIWC), go to church, volunteer at KOTO, play/watch soccer at UNIS, go to the Opera, start a club. If no nibbles, at least you are productively and healthily occupied!

Dearest misshanoi and other ladies,
At the Myanmar Benefit gig last night at the Green Mango, there was a lovely new bunch of expats along with a friendly spattering of good-looking Hanoians - as well an assortment of fruit. I hope you didn't miss the live music and plethora (that's right Bethany, I said "plethora") of prizes, but if you did miss it and want to get in on the action, check out the Van Ho Ba (it's a band) on facebook and newhanoian. You don't even have to go to church, join a women's club, volunteer, or do other productive activities like walking a strangely unsatisfying dog :-)

Can't help with pricing, but I can give you vague yet sufficient directions to three stores. If you come from Kim Ma a ways before it turns into Nguyen Thai Hoc, there is one on the right (on Kim Ma). The other is on the left on Nguyen Thai Hoc, near the big intersection with Hang Bong. Look for the large ridiculous laptop on the top of their store. Ly Nam De also sells many computer accessories for mac & pc.
Make sure you don't buy a mac with Windows Vista. They actually sell those here.

After seeing one particularly BAD-looking intoxicated female pose a danger to herself (and our band equipment) at a party I co-hosted this weekend, I got a bit negative myself and figured some cooking lessons might be in order for both parties, male and female.
