Gym and swimming pool
no photo available

Hi guys,

Im looking for a good gym which has enough equipments that do not actually fall off during your work out :(!

Im considering Horison and Sheraton. Has anyone been there? Pls give me some advice.

Actually both are way too far from where I stay. If you know any other place closer to Hoan Kiem Lake, please let me know too.

Many thanks!

I just checked out the Horison, the gym's pretty small but the equipment looks ok. There's about 8/10 weights machines, 1 rower, 1 bike, 2 treadmills, and 2 climber machines.

The pool is not really designed for laps, it's oval shaped and not very big, but would be ok if you went at a quiet time.

The price was $118++ (so about $135 in total) per month, or there was also a 3 month deal which worked out to about $350 (inc tax/service).

I don't know about the Sharaton, bu I've heared that it is considerably more expensive.

The Sheraton early this year was offering a 1 year memebrship for US$1200 and said they were going to open 24/7.
Not sure if this happened.
THe Guoman is closing on July 15th for 3 months renovation and will reopen as the Movenpick Hotel late October.

Hi Hang, if I could join the gym in Metropole, that would be perfect, I live just around the corner. Pls let me know the price if you could.

The best gym i've seen so far in Hanoi is the newly opened Actilife gym. All the equipments are new and from Finland. It's located at Building 17 T-8 at Trung Hoa Nhan Chin. I miss working out at Fitness 1st and this is the closest one you can get in Hanoi. Monthly payment of around $70/month.

Hi Ricster, You must be from Aus:)
Btw, thanks for the suggestion, I'd love to try that out but TH-NC is way too far for me to do on a regular basis.

There is a gym in the Melia Hotel, on Ly Thuong Kiet st, near Hanoi Towers. I am not sure what it is like or the price, but it would be an OK location for you near the lake.

The gym at Sunway Hotel down in Hai Ba Trung was good. I think I paid 3 months in advance last winter for peak hours and it came out to $70/month. No pool but the army hotel's pool is close by and about a couple dollars per visit.

The Sunway is very, very small and poorly maintained. I think the bigger hotels offer better equipment and facilities.

I heard through a friend that Nikko has a great gym and pool. Expensive though... I think it's around 15-1600/year. Maybe it's worth a little xtra if it has what you need. I've been to Metropole gym a few times, and that certainly seem overpriced.

After checking the options, I bought my own equipment in Trinh Hoai Duc, near the stadium. Except for the pool, I very happy having it in the house. Think it all came to about 20 mill, including a running machine and a great multi machine, and a lot of loose weights and bars.

Just turn on the tv and get going :-)
