New Hanoian has a listing of salons - any of the ones listed there will be able to do a decent cut and highlights for you. Also, you should search through the Q&A (ANH) before posting a question - this one has been asked and answered many times before, that's probably why you have had overwhelming silence to your question.

Well pardon me caitlin!
In a bit of a rush to get the house packed up and make the move over today, it was a sudden last minute thought and dont have time to trawl over many questions right now.
I will remember to look before i speak next time!
Thankyou for the info you have given me though, it is appreciated.

Luci hopefuly you have found the salon.
I had my hair ruin twice and learn that not all salon here is good.
I asked for layers and they gave me layers (exactly two layers and it was disaster, you can see the 2 layer like layer cake).

Mr Lam at Lansalon able to sort it out, he is the only one i trust now. His salon is in sofitel, Lansalon, $18-20 for a cut but it worth every penny. He wash, wet cut, blow dry... the normal cut i would normally get in England.

Went here yesterday and am really pleased with the quality of the haircut and the stylists English skills.

The Hair Workshop
49 Hai Ba Trung
(in Hanoi Towers, first floor, around the corner from Highlands coffee).

I think the cut was $16 US, dont sure about highlight costs.

I dont know about you, but I have frizzy/curly hair and I nearly hugged the woman when she started using that silver device that 'slices' the hair and thins it out in a way that makes it less frizzy. Havent seen this puppy in Mrs. Brady/x-mas tree haircuts throughout my experiences in Asia, so was tickled pink that this worked out well. Will go back there next time for sure.

Stylist name: Bui Thanh Thuy (dont be fooled by her long, straight hair, she knows how to deal with non-Asian hair. Hurrah!)

I went to The Hair Workshop on Friday and was really happy with the cut Nguyen Hung Cuong gave me. I have curly hair too and it's one of the best hair cuts I've ever had. He really listened to what I wanted and then went to work. It was $16 US for the cut. Highlights start at $35 US.

See JOE at the Hair Workshop, OR Tran Hung at Tran Hung Hair Creation, 5 Ho Xuan Huong. Both fantastic places. Google for the phone number.

Lan's at Lan's Salon, Sofitel Plaza, he's incredible, for highlights also. He's there every day. Not expensive. Well not as expensive as you might imagine and worth every single dongala. 0437163329. If you can't get through call reception at the Sofitel Plaza.
