Hi, how much would the average price for a Vietnamese-style house or apartment in Ba Dinh be? Would $700 a month be a reasonable budget?

I think that depends, Cindy. What size of house, what condition the house is in, heating/air con, furniture etc all have a bearing on the price.
I'm in a three bedroom in Ba Dinh (small roof terrace/aircon in 2 bedrooms/in need of refurbishment) and it's $450pm.
It'll also depend where in the district.

When you say "Vietnamese style" or price?
Vietnamese pay about3-5 million VND for a place like that, but expats are silly enough to pay upwards 700-800.
I know if a fairly big place with 4 bedrooms and nice view around 500 a month, I will send you the details later.

Hi Cindy. As an expat you will pay more for housing here than the Vietnamese. Unfortunately that's just the way it is, but at least in Ba Dinh you will have cheaper prices (usually) than somewhere closer or in the Old Quarter. We live in a lovely 3 bedroom house not far from the Australian Embassy which we pay $700 a month. It is fully furnished, and has a lot of light, plus a nice outdoors area for entertaining. I know of friends who pay more and less for something similar, but I think it depends on where and when you get your properties to choose from. Over the years I have found that the more you pay, the more little features you get, but that's just my observation. Good luck!
