This is a survey i know it's not a place to do it but i really need your opinions, so the more answers you give, the better my survey is. Thank you in advance:
a, Do you like mexican food? ( if you have never eaten mexican food before, would you like to try?)
b, If there was a mexican restaurant serving good mexican food right in the old quarters, nice place, not too expensive, would you like to come?

I ate Mexican food at least 4 times a week until I moved to Australia when I turned 18. It's in my blood.
Build it and they will come. Just make sure it's AUTHENTIC and awesome so they will stay.

A) Yes, I love Mexican food.
B) Yes, I would. It's one "food nationality" that is underrepresented (sp) in Hanoi. My favorite Mexican food is at the R&R. There are other places that try, like Tex Mex (ugh) and Al Fresco's, but they don't quite cut it with flavor...

Yes to both your questions, the more Mexican the better!

The key will be getting the ingredients and spices right. Like Michal said, if it tastes authentic then everybody who loves mexican food (and there are a lot of us) will be in for the long haul.
Good margaritas are a big plus as well.

Agreed -- there are loads of people in Hanoi that love Mexican, but it's incredibly difficult to find good Mexican here. The most important thing is, as mentioned above, make sure that it is REALLY Mexican food and not some terrible, tasteless facsimile.

Yes and Yes.
i was just saying that a couple of days ago: we need a real Mexican restaurant here.
Maybe we should start a group on this site and organize Mexican night once a month or something ;)
I know i did a chili con carne and tacos night this winter with some friends and it was a huge success.
unless you have an insight about someone opening a Mexican place here, we have to do something about it.
I'm getting hungry writing about it ;)

To continue what's been said before, a REAL Mexican place would be a huge addition to Hanoi (and probably to all of South East Asia). In my experience, good Mexican food is almost impossible to find outside of the Americas. If someone opened a place here where the Mexican food was recognizably Mexican to even the most discerning, it would be great!!

I LOVE Mexican but haven't found a good place here yet...please do let us know if you find a spot!!

Currently, my favorite mexican place is Kitchen. Its right in front of the Sheraton by West Lake. It only serves mexican after 5pm though.

What are the results of this survey? Is there a plan of action?

well...is there any Mexican food amateur cook in town: how about creating a group in the TNH and organize Mexican night where everybody brings something and we cook the food ourselves.
or if we are enough people in this group, i'm sure we can find a restaurant that can make a Mexican night for us and maybe start a ritual/trend in Hanoi.
don't get me wrong, i also like the Kitchen's food but there are plenty of other Mexican dish to eat.
GUYS? are you up for it?
if i have enough answer i'll start the group, no problemo guillermo!

well since we seem to have some positive feed back, let's go for it.
My only question is: how do you want to call the group. I'm afraid that Mexican lover might be misinterpreted.
any suggestion?
then we can start gathering ideas to see how, where and when we can have a mexican food fiesta.
