Hi all!
I'm moving back to Hanoi after being away for almost one year. Just a quick question for anyone who can help. What are the rental prices like in Hanoi these days? When i was in Hanoi last year it was quite easy to find a decent place (small unit) for about $300USD/mth. Now, with all this talk of inflation and the cost of rising real-estate, is this still the case in Hanoi? I have been in HCMC and real-estate has gone through the roof! I'm hoping Hanoi hasn't followed suit!
I have look at the Hahn long-term guest house and their rooms, although do seem lovely, are $600mth!!! Is this a rough estimate of what someone will pay now!? Ps: If you know of any reliable agents or land lords that would be also be helpful! Thanks you for reading!
PS: looking forward to getting back to Hanoi!!

Two months ago I heard that you could find a place for $300, but everything I saw was $500 on up. Here is the website for one local realtor: www.fair-realestate.com

There are still places for $300 and under, but the prices have gone up. I have used an estate agent named Dat for last year when I was here and this year also. We saw 3 places a few days ago that were all around $250 per month, and I picked one of them and am there now. his contact info: hoangminhdatvip@yahoo.com.vn cell 0904258232 His English is basic, but he is very professional and shows you what you want to see (not what he wants you to rent, what I experienced with a lot of other agents last year!) Tell him Steph sent ya:) And good luck, Steph
Thanx Steph! I will give him a call when I'm back in Hanoi. Cheers!

We recently spent 3 mos searching for a place, and I can tell you with certainty that prices have gone WAY up. Nearly everything we saw was $600 and up -- and some of them were hardly more than a studio. Admittedly, there are certainly cheaper places still out there -- it depends on where you are looking. E.g.: I think if you're interested in the Cau Giay area, you should be able to find something cheap.
