I've been there and it was a blast. We had a large party so we took taxis (it's not particularly far). It was a year or so ago and there was lots of drinking so I'm hazy on the details.

I'd recommend getting a group of people together - you'll want someone to take your picture as you scoff the still-beating heart of a reptile. Ideally you'd have a few drinks beforehand as it can be expensive over there and they've got the warm bottled beer thing going on. You don't need to speak vietnamese - just point at what you want to eat.

I wish I could remember the name of the place we went as it was excellent. Perhaps someone with a better memory has a recommendation?

I haven't been there. I will probably go sooner or later, but I'm not interested in all that mola ram eating hearts kind of shit. I was wondering what kind of snakes they have, and if they have constrictors you can buy. A python or even something like a rat snake would have probably done wonders for some of my old apartments here. Might even help with some of the neighborhood children.

Try the Quoc Trieu restaurant. It's really nice and tasty

Cross Chuong Duong bridge go throuh gia lam, when you get to the big round-a-bout (you`ll know it when you see it) go straight ahead, about 500m past the round-a-bout up chuck a right and your there...think its called hoa lam street should see snake signs up around the place...

it's easy to go in a group. just grab a few taxis and write down Le Mat. we took a lonely planet and just showed the driver. it's not very far out of town.

it's pretty fun and i think most places just have the set menu of cobra, if that's all you want. it's prepared many ways and it tastes good. the blood and the venom don't go down easy, though...
