Angel, I got my Vietnamese driving licence, however, I was not really involved in the process since my company did all the paperwork.

I was told that the procedure should be as follows:

1. Go to the Transportation Administration office – 36 Cao Ba Quat Street to get the application form
2. You need your original driving license + a notarized (translated) copy
3. Origninal passport and a copy of the passport + visa
4. Letter from the employer
5. If you authorize somebody to do the procedure for you, an authorisation letter need to be provided
6. 2 photos size 2*3 and 1 photo size 3*4

Good luck!

Annett: How long is your driving license valid?

answered about 19 months ago by Antwerpman

usually your driving licence is valid for as long as your residence or work permit is valid. If you are a member of your company's board of management you wil get one for 3 years as these requirements are not applcable

My driving licence is 5 years valid, even though my work permit is only for 2 years. Maybe this is now the standard period?

I got mine for 3 years, one of my colleagues got only 6 months as this was the length of his work permit. Maybe there are other rules in place depending on where you work (eg government bodies, embassies, etc)

I was told (incorrectly it seems) that the length depended on your residence permit

the address is 16 Cao Ba Quat, get these ready:
-original DL + notarized copy
-notarized passport + visa/work permit
-letter in Vietnamese asking to keep the original DL for future use(they will not return the original DL if u dont have this letter) stamped by company
-fill in the form ( in vietnamese ) stamped by company
-photos

note that you could also convert your home country DL ( California, New York, UK, Singapore etc...) need not be an international DL

you should have your assistant or secretary do all the work for ya.. don't try to do it yourself as u might end up killing yourself

Yep, dont try to sort it out by yourself. Last time i did this for my manager and it went well. ALl procedure took me about 7 days from the date i got the application.

Good luck with DL.

If you are still in need of my previous experience concerning this, dont hesitate to send me a message.
