There are bunches of wi-fi cafe's around town. Go to 'So Hot' cafe No2 Nha Tho str, right next to the Cathedral on the right. you will need to ask for the place once you are there (it's in the alley). Unique decor, comfortable sofas, reasonable price for food and drinks, and free wi-fi. However, avoid the primetime when it'll be packed.

Another place might worth visitting is Highland Cafe's at Ha Noi Tower - Grand floor. Also check whether the Highland Cafe's at Pacific Building at the end of Ly Thuong Kiet str is open yet.

I would say that in 90% of places where you sit down on a non-plastic stool and eat, there will be free wifi. Any place that serves ca phe sua for over 10k VND has wifi.

Walk around you will see the signs everywhere.

I'm not quite sure if it's even possible to find a neighborhood without several such spots these days.

Oh...and don't let all the "Wifi Free" signs fool you. It's just one of those head shaking Hanoi eccentricities that suddenly appeared everywhere before somebody could take them aside and say, "Uhh...guys?"

Why go to Hanoi Tower's Highlands Coffee to use there wifi and need to buy an expense drink when you can go to the public library and use wifi for free. It's quiet too for working or in my case...playing GTA: San Andrea and downloading....

The Vietnam Development Information Center, Ground Floor, 63 Ly Thai To st, located across from the Hanoi Opera House offers the perfect quiet environment to work on a laptop, has nice lighting too.
