Child minding options

My husband and I are moving to Hanoi at the end of the year with our 6 month old baby. I would like to do some part time teaching (about 3 afternoons a week) and was wondering what kind of options for child minding are available other than hiring a nanny.

I have looked at a number of nursery schools/kindergartens online and the minimum age seems to be 18 months.

Any suggestions?

Hi!

I have been here only for 2 weeks with my 8-months, but fro what I have heard and observed kindergartens take in kids from 18 months with maybe few exceptions (the youngest I have heard was 14 months). And they won't be too helpful as their operating hours are in the morning only (until 2pm) while ost of teaching jobs are during after job hours from 5pm.
However, nanny is very good (and affordable) option and they are really good here.

Kris

Thanks for your post Kris. I had a feeling that might be the case. I guess I'll just have to wait until my little man gets older or I find a good nanny.

Cheers!

There are no "daycares" in hanoi for that age, but for a ffraction of the cost you can get a really excellent and caring nanny, who can help your little one socialize with other little ones as there is a "mommy" and "nanny" group here.
