What ingredients are you looking for specifically? Not sure about the oven. Maybe try Metro?

actually for cakes and pies i've had luck at 66 ba trieu - forget the name of the place, but have memorized the address. they have flour, baking soda and baking powder, plus some other baking needs. not sure what you want to make, but it may be a start.

I just bought a mini oven for VND 1,099.000 from this appliance shop on the 2/F of Syrena shopping centre in Frasier Place. The brand I got is from Poland (sorry, the name eludes me now) but there was a slightly smaller and cheaper one at VND799K.

The place in Ba Trieu is called 'Western Canned Food'. I saw baking powder and stuff at L's place at 3 Xuan Dieu, West Lake. You'll find L's Place (lots of imported foodstuff) and location on the New Hanoian website.

I agree, there is a lot of baking stuff (trays, icing, cake mixes etc) at Western Canned Foods on Ba Trieu

Availability of Baking Powder at L's Place and Western Canned foods seems to come and go. At a previous house, our landlord supplied us with a halogen oven (http://chotroi.vn/bh/Xemchitiet.asp?ID=80979&name=_Noi_nuong_Halogen_Oven). It cooks using its halogen lamp, which emitted a blinding light and looked as if it may take off and return to the planet it came from. It worked though, for roasting a whole bird, baking cakes and was easy to clean (i wish i had one right now), and is an apparently healthier and more energy efficient form of cooking, according to the one source i've found (http://inventorspot.com/innovative_halogen_oven). They seem pretty cheap and i think i've seen them in appliance stores around Hanoi. p.s i like how your question looks like a poem, and when read as such goes beyond the realm of baking and can amuse the likes of me for about 4 seconds.

i wasn't in town for few weeks totally forgot i had ever posted a question here. >_< thank you for all of your answers. i really want to check out Syrena shopping centre but it's a bit far from where i live. i think they have more selections, though. and i did little search on halogen oven. it sure sounded like more healthier. once again, i got to check out if any appliance stores near my house sell it. but then with all that melamin i am not sure i ever want to have breads again >_<
