Fine dining restaurant for anniversary

Hi all,

Me and my husband are celebrating wedding anniversary in a few days. Can anyone recommend a fine dining restaurant for this occasion? Would be really nice to find a cozy, quite place with good food!

Thanks a lot!

You can go to Bobby Chin right beside Hoan Kiem lake, or ninety14 at Hanoi opera house for this anniversary. They are very nice, romantic and expensive restaurant :)

If you like Japanese food so should visit Asahi sushi in Ba Trieu str, opposite Vincom tower, it's nicest Japanese restaurant with 3 floors and it's easy for ya to choose best room or conner into. And the food is very beautiful but not too expensive :)

Enjoy and Have nice time

I've been to Asahi and to be honest it's not the typical Japanese restaurant.
You can hardly find Japanese there because of one simple reason: it's like for trendy young Vietnamese only.
My friend works for Mitsubishi Corp. and he tells me that Japanese don't like Asahi. They often go to some smaller restaurants near Daewoo hotel (Kim Ma st.) or Japan embassy (Van Phuc area) because they find them 'more Japanese'.
Asahi is not a good idea.

I don't like Asahi nor Bobby Chin. Would rather be at Vine on Xuan Dieu for a more upscale place.

I'm a bit partial to the Metropole, but based on the TNH reviews of MCMXI (1911)in the Opera House, I'm giving the place serious consideration for special event upscale dining.

I second mnguyen on that one: Asahi is more a trendy place than anything else.

If you want real japanese food, you have to go in places where the japanese community is going like Ky Y (http://newhanoian.xemzi.com/venue/show/258/Ky-Y) though the decor is not too romantic or classy, it's just a place you go for great food. there are others but i can't remember their name.

Bobby chin....well it's bobby chin. i won't come back to that one, but read all the reviews before going there. short story, if you are looking for just a nice decor, i guess you could go there.

Now for such occasion like yours, i would definitely go to La Verticale (http://newhanoian.xemzi.com/venue/show/1738/La-Verticale), the chef is the ex-chef of the Metropole here in Hanoi, and is considered one of the top chef in the world. Many people don't know it but it's true. He has been given the title of Maitre cuisinier de France which is a major recognition in the cuisine industry.

And surprisingly, is not over priced at all. The price are lower or the same as a Bobby chin for example.

You can certainly ask them for a quite table, And you can enjoy a drink on their nice terrace upstairs.

No i don't have any share in the restaurant, just been there many times and was always very satisfied. A hidden treasure of hanoi.

Many thanks to Bob for the excellent information on La Verticale.

Yet another example of how TNH has proved to be an invaluable resource for New Hanoians while at home or abroad.

If I can add my 2 pennies' worth I would say that Cafe des Arts has some of the finest food in Hanoi - French cuisine after all and I am sure he would have a couple of Michelin stars if he were in Europe. It is quiet and cosy and you'll be well looked after. The menu is broad and you pay for what you get. Check out the link for a better idea:

it's great topic here to share experience together. anyone should have a special meal somewhere and the information like this really useful for them...

A beautiful place to go after nice meal i recommend the 20 floor in Sofitel plaza, No.1 Thanh Nien str. there you can have a good overview from high location to look around Hanoi night in light and dark sky with full of twinkling stars, taste drinks there and enjoy special music and free to dance if you want :)

Nope, no pizza delivery this time :))

We went to Vine wine boutique cafe& bar. It was an excellent choice for us: the ambience (especially music) was very good, staff was attentive and helpful (not annoyingly "helpful" that often happens in Hanoi), food was ok and wine...very very delicious.

Thanks again for recommendations!

I agree that Vertical is a lovely dinner (and lunch) spot. Another fancypants restaurant with very good food is Halia, just opened up at Pacific Place building on cnr of Ly Thuong Kiet and Phan Boi Chau.
