I'm looking to buy a plant, specifically a Phalaenopsis orchid and don't know were to look.
I see the women on the streets peddling lots of stuff but nothing that resembles an orchid.

There is a very small flower/plant shop in Cho Hom market on Pho Hue. There are also some Vietnamese plant places on either Dang Thai Mai or Tay Ho in West Lake (I don't remember which street). You also might want to check out the flower market (not sure if they sell just cut flowers or plants as well).

There are a lot of plant sellers on Dang Thai Mai, thats true. But I experienced that the prices there are quite high. There is another street where they sell mainly plants, it's on Duong Hoang Hoa in Ba Dinh Distr., the parallel street where Sommerset Westlake is located. They sell plants at cheaper prices and I mean that I've seen there orchids too.

Both Annett and potato are right, I just correct a bit: They sell flowers, seeds, plants on Hoang Hoa Tham st. - Ba Dinh dist. Most shops are near the junction between Buoi & Hoang Hoa Tham (also near Buoi market). If you start Hoang Hoa Tham from Ba Dinh square area, you'll find them at the end of the road. Goodluck

Hoang Hoa Tham, as mentioned above, is a very good bet. They have loads of orchids -- don't know that I've seen your specific one yet. Word is that the best place to shop for orchids is the big plant market down the dike road on the way to the airport (not too far past where the road splits in two for Xuan Dieu). I've never actually gone in myself (always forget about it), but that's what I've heard. There are also orchids at Cho Hom, as mentioned above. They tend to have the tiny ones though -- not like the one you're interested in.
The price is more flexible in Buoi market and there are more options also.
