Anyone have an idea as to why my ipod would have just hit a 'white screen of death'? That is, the screen light comes on and the ipod plays, however no writing / symbols whatsoever come up on the screen. It's an 8GB mini (no video), about 2 years old.
Problem came about when I connected it to my Mac & aborted syncing the ipod, then tried to import my music from it (without having first installed the special software on my Mac).
I reset it to factory settings & offered to update software (didn't need it, apparently), however this didn't fix the problem. Also tried recharging it, and randomly shaking and yelling at it, however all to no avail.
Before I go to the Mac repair shop here, was hoping someone may have a tip.

Not true, check out Thuan My Hanoi at 50 Mai Hac De street, Hai Ba Trung District. Have reviewed the store, fantastic, reliable service at a good price

See http://www.hnmug.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26 for useful answer (although ultimately fruitless in my case) & good Hanoi Mac users site.

There is an Apple-approved repair shop over at 1A Yet Kieu (http://store.apple.com.au/asia/FMPro?-db=asiachannelweb.fp5&-lay=web&-format=%2Fasia%2Fsvclocateresults.html&-error=%2Fasia%2Flocaterrors.html&-max=25&-sortfield=level&-sortfield=TradingAs&-sortorder=ascending&c1=&c2=&c3=&c4=&c5=&c6=&c7=&c8=&c9=&c10=&c11=&c12=&c13=&c14=&viaProduct=3&country=Vietnam&-find.x=60&-find.y=12). I've taken my iPod there a number of times, and they've always been able to get me a new replacement under my warranty (sounds like you might be JUST able to do so). Regardless, they should be able to give you some better troubleshooting tips and help you out.
Thanks kparsons! I briefly considered trying to replace the screen myself & then decided it was likely to go horribly wrong if I tried. So the Yet Kieu shop sounds like my best option - better find my warranty info & head over, quick smart.

The Mac repair guy at 1A Yet Kieu is named Thanh and he reads better English than he speaks it. His number is posted on here somewhere -- text him first for best comprehension.
