Contact martial arts in Hanoi

Hi

I have been looking for a martial arts club with contact. Preferably muay thai/ thai boxing, mixed martial arts, brazilian jiu jitsu, submissionwrestling or kick boxing. All the martial arts school i have found or heard about was traditional with non or very little contact.

Hope somebody knows a place.

Thanks!

Housekeeper Payrise???

THis may be a question more for older hanoians than younger hanoians... Or at least ones who have been here longer.

When I first arrived i hired a housekeeper for $100 per month. for 4 1/2 hours a day 5 days a week. She also works part time for another family. She is fantastic she cooks, she cleans, and is very trustworthy.

She has just asked for what i would say is a ridiculious raise in pay to $150.

Because i don't know many other people who hire a housekeeper I would love to know...

What is the going rate for a housekeeper...?? I have heard wildly different amounts here so I would love to see the difference...

I know inflation is insane.... But to anyone a 50% payrise would be a lot within a year....

I would love to hear some viewpoints.... PLease note that do know this seems a bit colonialist and ridiculious. I want to keep the peace, and be a good employer...

Cheers.
Sam

Reliable camera bag for DSLR at a reasonable price?

Does anyone know where to buy a reliable camera bag for DSLR at a reasonable price?
Padding doesn't matter since I have a nice one. But it should be water-proof. I have a dslr with a vetical grip. Normally, I mount 24-70 L with a hood. Additional lenses I have are 10-20 and 70-200. No flash. Could you recommend a bag which suit all of the equipments? I in fact have a backpack of Case Logic. So, I'd like to have a handy or a formal camera bag.
Thanks.

Tent (hiking shop)

Hi,

Would anyone know where to get a basic small hiking-tent in Hanoi?

Are there any shops around that would sell equipment related to hiking at all? (Except the "russian shop".)

Or maybe an army-shop, or something, with a tent for a whole division.

Thanks

Is there a branch of Alcoholics Anonymous in Hanoi?
I'm asking on behalf of a friend (no, really).
If you know of one that welcomes expats, please PM / email me.

Photos & schmancy envelopes

Hello all,

I was wondering if anybody knew of a good (great?) place to get professional-quality photographic prints made, preferably with a choice of papers, not just the glossy stuff.

I need to send out some mailers and would prefer to print on a fine art matte paper, something with some weight to it. Is there anywhere in Ha Noi that provides a service like this? It would be a bulk order of between 200-300 prints per image, if that matters. But small prints, which leads to the second question:

Is there a store here that specializes in stationary products, that sells like nice, small envelopes, roughly 4x6 size? Simple envelopes, nothing fancy, but also not just plain white thin postage stuff. I need an envelope that says Hey, this guy took a minute picking me out; this guy cares a lot.

Thanks for the help.
