Direct US-Hanoi flights yet?

Does anyone know if any airliner is offering *direct* flights from the US to Hanoi?

I know you can fly direct San Francisco to HCMC as of 2005, but what about Hanoi?

Anyone heard any news about a US-Hanoi route opening up?

I'm only looking for info on flights that do not stop over in Tokyo, HK, Bangkok, etc.

Cheers!

I just wanted to add on to the question, I hope you don't mind "letsgo..".
Do you also know if it's possible to buy a ticket to the US at an agent in VND? (yeah, like everyone, have too much V cash and no $).

You should definitely be able to buy a ticket with VND cash!! I always pay by card, but I would put up a fuss like you wouldn't believe if they told me I couldn't pay them in their own currency. Which agent do you use?

I've never used an agent in Hanoi.
Can you recommend any?
I was thinking of just using VN airlines office cause they probably won't resist the cash.

The one I use most often is Asia Wings Travel in the Hanoi Towers. They're the most efficient and pleasant.

Good luck with wherever you try and post about what happens!

i think from now on, you can exchange money from VND to USD everywhere. The rate is not crazy now!

Wallflowers

I was browsing online a few days back for flights to the U.S. (HAN-LAX-HAN) and stumbled upon the website of a local travel agent: tftravel.com.vn. However, most, if not all, of the flights I saw there has stops in the major Asian capitals you mentioned but there was an Air France flight that stops at Paris for the route I mentioned (flying time, though, is a bum-numbing 36 hours). The website said they accept both cash and credit card payments (with surcharge). I think you need to sign up before you can book online. Have made a booking online for another flight but since I haven't finalized my plans yet, I can't say anything yet about their service quality. Hope this info helps though.
