Monty Python's Flying Circus
HN zoo

Does anyone know a DVD sthop where it's possible to purchase the complete either a complete set of Monty Python's Flying Circus, or each of the series separately?

I've seen the movies for sale (already own them in point of fact), but I'm after the TV episodes.

As if day to day life wasn't sufficiently filled with the bizzare anyway ha?

Wallflowers

Bought a copy of that series and a few others (Fawlty Towers, a compilation of Pedro Almodovar movies and a couple of current and old movies titles) in Hang Gai (no. 48, I think) about two months ago. The store sells the usual Vietnamese handicrafts and they will have only a few dvds displayed outside but you will have to enter the premises and ask the store staff to show you to the innermost portion of the store where they have shelves and stacks of dvds. Not sure now about how much we paid but my friends and I bought a lot so we managed to negotiate a good price. The store is next to a street stall selling cold drinks (the smell of the jackfruit was sort of my landmark for getting there).

Yep, I was going to give similarly vague directions, but it sounds like exactly the same place with the same sort of navigational aids I use to describe it to mates.

I bought the series there (though a PS2 doesn't like all the disks, but goes fine on a laptop), and he is willing to order in other stuff... after two years here, and asking every time I drop in there for the Beatles Anthology for a mate it is "One more week, no worries". But everything else that has been hard to get has been there next time.

If you go there a couple of times, they'll recognize you, realize you're not a tourist, and look after you price wise and warning you off discs that are aren't as good quality.

I have all 25 original discs here in Hanoi. It's a long story so don't ask.

If you know of somewhere they can be copied/transferred to other media I'm happy to lend them to you.

They are very nice and also have many kinds of movies. Price: up to $1.00, good one, and if you cant see it, bring it back and change.

Thanks kids for all the input, and Jess cheers for the kind offer - apparently it seems to appear and disappear arbitrarily at all the usual shops, I just have bad timing and since getting a coppy have seen it half a dozen times elsewhere.

Just for anyone else interested down the track - it's sold as an 2 disc "box set" in the New Hanoian colour scheme which looks like someone confused the graphics from "The Full Monty" and stuck a random '60s picture of some other British comedians on the cover.

Surprisingly it has all 45 episodes, though in a somewhat random order.
