Well, if you're a poor ass teacher like myself ... it's hard to beat Matchbox's 'Steak Night' on Saturday nights. "200gr Aussie Scotch Fillet Steak with Demi Glace sauce on sweet potato mash for VND99,000" Check out the details in the Events section.

A couple of friends weren't so into the Matchbox meal they had for Steak Night.

Don't know about matchbox, but I've had some pretty good steaks at Al Fresco. Allthough every time I've left the reataurant, I have smelled like a burger jockey at McDonalds. If you want it a little more stylish and cared for, get the filet mignon at Bobby Chinn. :-)
Thanks but I've heard way too many negatives from way too many Chinn diners to ever let him touch my dong.

The best steak I've had in Hanoi, by far, was at Le Petit Bruxelles. They know their meat and treat it well - definitely try it.

The are a few places on Giang Vo to try out, I forget the name but there is a really good one across from the "Oh my god" restaurant...and they have pretty good steaks too

try the metropole, get some good service and wine while you are at it. you pay for what you get when it comes to steak, unless you prepare it yourself.

I am seconding Loominpapa's post: nobody beats Le Petit Bruxelles at steaks. We have had countless meals there and without exception at least one person in the group ordered steak, sometimes the local and sometimes the imported one. Never, ever had a bad experience with steaks there.

To answer my own question - Matchbox ftw. Hands down.
