Does anyone know if there is an Apple store in Hanoi or a reputable fixer for an ipod which keeps freezing?

Hi,
There is a small shop right opposite Trang Tien Plaza. I forgot the name, but you can't miss it, it is opposite the entrance of the Trang Tien Plaza shopping mall (the entrance which has the Vietcombank ATM right inside).
They are usually helpful and will try to fix things or refer you to somebody else if they can't.
Good luck!

To the best of my knowledge there is no authorized Apple dealer here. Wouldn't try to repair an iPod here cos if they replace with inferior parts, a genuine iPod dealer may refuse to repair in the future. In addition, every iPod has a service log for future reference and if you repair at a non authorized dealer this may influence future repairs as well. You can contact your home country and consider shipping it there to someone who can help you send it in. Depending on how old it is, Apple offers 12 months free repair service. Good luck!

Dear Cat1,

You might want to try some self diagnostics on your side before sending it in for repairs.
Here is a few questions or steps that you might want to try and ask yourself.

1. Have you done a firmware upgrade via iTunes ?
2. Does your ipod freeze on random occasions or while doing something specific ?

Cheers
Kay

Thanks everyone.

Have googled frozen ipods and found it VERY common unfortunately. FYI, initial thing to do is hold both menu + select for a few seconds. This works the frist few times but now it doesnt respond to that so needs a repair or replace. Thanks for your info on where to go.

I recommend leaving it on until the battery dies. That usually works.

It is i...

Why don't you try booting it into diagnostic mode and let it run the tests to see if anything's amiss?

I ended up giving mine away to a coworker. It was a 40G 3rd gen that I knew had HD issues even before I came to VN.

There's 2 authorised distributors of i-Pods in Hanoi. One is on Nguyen Du and one on Nguyen Thai Hoc. Sorry I don't have the exact address, but they're pretty obvious - although small shops. The one on Nguyen Du have fixed several of my friend's i-pods (including sending one to Singapore and getting a replacement one through warranty). They're pretty good and there is at least one person there who speaks English.
Good luck

Just an update from official Apple website in Asia. Authorized dealers can be located in Vietnam at a variety of locations.
