Help - Schools in Hanoi?
no photo available

My family and I are planning to move to Hanoi in January (09). I have two children aged 8 and 5 - can anyone provide advice about quality schooling? I'm going to be working in My Dinh, not sure about where to live at this point - probably close to kids' schools as possible.

Hi,

Welcome to Hanoi ! I know (because my kids are there) that the quality of the French School (Lycée Français Alexandre Yersin) is very good (much better than most of the schools in France), with an unusual (but very nice for the kids integration in the country) rate of vietnamese children (40%).
However, you might probably prefer an english-speaking school : there are two of them, if I'm correct. HIS (Hanoi International School) and UNIS (United Nations International School). I guess that you will soon get advices for these two ones.

Ill second Alexis' advicem, HIS and UNIS are the onl;y two I would recommend for English speaking children. Best to pay both of them a visit and check the distance to school, though both I think provide transport services.

Hi,
Thanks Alexis and Steve for your responses.
UNIS is at capacity in these year groups so we'll have to look at other options.
Alexis: My children don't speak French; can they still go to Alexandre Yersin? Are there other children from non-French speaking background attending? Can you give me an idea of the fees there?
Thanks again,
Cindy
