Was wondering if anyone here has used a Vietnamese removal company? I have had a look at Crown and JVK, but the prices way too high for us modest earners. I have used Taxi Thai before, but seems that they only supply the transport and you have to carry everything yourself.

Hey Steve ... I used Taxi Thai the last time we moved and we just gave the driver extra to help us. I also know a reliable handy man who can help you. Msg me if you need his info. He helped us and stayed until every last item was moved in! Happy moving! :)

Hi Steve Friends of mine moved last week to Saigon and used Saigon Van having asked a number of moving companies for prices - Saigon Van were cheapest and did a superb job. Came and packed everything in a morning and today are due to delivery. Another friend used their affiliated company in Bangkok to move to Saigon and said the service was excellent and the price was the best they could find. Good luck

Seems like it's standard practice with a taxi tải to either pay the driver extra for labor or grab one of the neighborhood laborers (one of the guys who you see hauling sand and bricks down the alleys) and pay him. 100,000 VND for an hour or two's work is very generous. The downside to this arrangement is you have no recourse if something gets broken.

We moved using Tiger Transpo recently. They came, packed everything, took the curtains down etc and then took everything to the new house and unpacked and re-assembled everything. And we are a family of four with all the stuff that a family accumulates. Total price was around 450 usd and they did the job within 5 hours. The nice thing is that they also clean up the rubbish of the packing material, but if you like you can keep the boxes. If not, they will take them away. Good luck moving!

I don't recommend Taxi Tai with neighbourhood labours. You may find a lot of items missing in the end. Use a real moving company, have them deliver the boxes to you and you do the packing yourself. I have learned this the hard way, when the moving crew tried to steal anything they could. Even four tiny pieces of metal were removed from a bed. Value maybe a few thousand Dong, but they took it. When I later used a proper moving company I had no problems. I paid a bit more, but in the end it was cheaper because nothing was missing. If you don't have a lot of stuff you could rent Taxi Tai and do it with some friends.

I used Trans-Link Express when I moved here from Hong Kong and a colleague used the same company to move from Dong Da to Hai Ba Trung district today. I've posted their details in the business directory. Look for Mr. Linh, who speaks excellent English.
