Does anyone know what Vegy wash actually does to ones fresh produce? I know it's supposed to clean the veggies so they are 'safe' to eat - what exactly does this mean?
At home I just soak my vegetables in water with a few dashes of vinegar - I'm wondering how much more effective Vegy is? And what nasties it may actually add...

I've been curious about this too. Fwiw we slosh veggies about in cold salted water (using cheap large crystal salt) and that seems to be a common method among local people (our local bún chả lady does the same).

In the absence of any other info, think I might do some taste testing with the vegy wash as compared to a salt and vinegar soak, and see what comes out on top...

better to avoid the chemicals I say - no idea if they're harmful, but if part of the point of washing the vegies is to wash off the pesticides and fertilizers, then why use more chemicals to do so!
