Swimming Pool time!

It's so hot! when does pool season start? which pool is best to go to (are there other ones aside from Army hotel?). Is it possible to get a monthly membership? Is it easy to sneak into hotel pools here? (like Horison or Hilton).

I hear there is one near west lake.. but I don't know the address or if it's open yet.

Hello Jessiepoo. There is a swimming pool at Khan Quang Do Hotel. The cost is 12000 VND per visit. The pool opens on April 25th. I am not sure of a monthly price. The hotel staff didn't know the monthly price they said I should ask that question on opening day. The hotel is at 189 Hoang Hoa Tham St. Its not too far from Bach Thao and West Lake. It is hard to explain how to get there. All the locals know where it is and were able to point me in the right direction. Hotel website is www.khanquangdohotel.vn

Most hotels will offer gym + pool memberships on a monthly basis that you could try. The rates are quite expensive but it's value for money. :)

The swimming pool at Khan Quang Do Hotel now costs 15,000 vnd for each visit. It is open daily from 5am to 10.30am and 3pm to 8pm. Monthly cost is around 400,000vnd so best to pay each time you go.

Hey ya'll
thanks for your replies
for all those who are interested:
I tried the pool at Khan Quang Do Hotel which is actually a public pool full of children next door to the hotel.. NOT recommended. cheap option 15,000vnd
I've been going to the Thang Loi hotel and it's absolutely lovely if you can handle seeing people spitting the pool. I find going in the afternoons best because there aren't that many people that time of the day (the sun!). 40,000 VND and nice to hang out and have a beer there too.
Army hotel isn't bad either and always empty, its 45,000VND. It's a bit hard to swim in the weird shaped pool but is a good option for those who want to swim in the old qtr.
I find the public pools to be overcrowded with children and rather dirty. Seems like hotels are the best option for peace and quiet.

For anyone who likes to swim a good distance, then the best option is Sao Mai (in West Lake on Tay Ho Street, which is the first street on your left after Syreena Towers if you are coming from the direction of the Sheraton). It is 50m long and you can swim proper laps without too many people crossing your path. The pool is not up to the cleaner standards of Thang Loi Hotel (mouldy tiles!) and the showers/toilets aren't particularly nice. But it's not that bad and I much prefer swimming 20 laps of Sao Mai (1km) than 50 laps of Thang Loi. Thang Loi is a great place to hang out and the pool is really nice....but only 20m long.

Sao Mai costs 30,00VND to swim and 3,000VND to store your bag.
Open hours:
Weekdays: 12pm-7pm (last entry at 7pm but pool closes at 8pm)
Weekends: 6am-7pm (last entry 7pm, pool closes 8pm)
