Non-stick women's clothes

Will be in Hanoi for 1-3 months and would prefer to buy clothes once I am there and slightly more settled than bring oodles of stuff with me.

BUT, my one experience living in Asia was Taiwan a few years back and I had a very hard time finding clothes that fit. I am not terribly picky, would even settle for Gap or Old Navyish solid color casual clothes if need be.

Wondering what the experiences of the other western women in Hanoi is re this matter. Thanks in advance,

D

I do sympathize. Have had some clothes made but they always tell me it will be expensive because I am so huge that I use more material. Have not found any place with sizes above US 12. But try having something made--on Hang Gai for about 15$ you can nice crinkly silk or linen.

Yeah, you won't be able to buy much here, unless you are Asian sized. Vietnamese women are probably the smallest people in the world, and they wear their clothes tight. Think an average size of 40kg!

T-shirts are generally easish to buy, and there are a few boutique shops offering clothes in Western sizes ('Things of Substance' on Nha Tho, for example), but they are similar price to Australia.

I would recommend bringing your own jeans/pants/ etc unless you want to get a whole new wardrobe anyway. It will involve a lot of time at tailors- which can be lots of fun if you want to do it, but can also be a pain in the neck.

Thanks for your info, much appreciated.

I am about a size 12 US, but think I will hit the stores before I leave just to be safe. Dont have much patience for shopping, but think I might have even less for tailoring.

Cant wait to arrive on Tue!

Things of Substance does things in larger sizes (up to UK/Aus size 18) and if they don't have it in stock, they'll tailor make anything in their shop in your size for no extra charge. A little more expensive than buying in the markets, but worth it, as the styles and quality are better as well.

5 Nha Tho - across-ish from Moka cafe on the street in front of the church.

Funny, when I read the title, I thought - "Who needs Teflon clothes?'
