Why dont you try LanSalon in Hanoi Sofitel Plaza?!! I'd rec. you and others in a heartbeat! He's amazing....

Ok so it doesn't answer your question, but I also recommend Lan Salon at the Sofitel Plaza; he's a bit of a wizard. I got an appointment on the same day I called, and I needed foils, a semi-permanent colour, cut, and blow wave. The staff are all courteous and made sure I was comfortable and looked after. My hair is fine, colour-treated, hard to manage Western hair, but he wasn't phased! Meanwhile, I am also interested to hear if anyone recommends Toni and Guy?

I do not know if the "move" of Tony & Guy is supposed to be to the place the receptionist mentioned when she called me. For one, I cannot imagine why Tony & Guy would re-name their salon "Yen Chang". Then, I find it hard to believe that T&G would put their name on a place that doubles as a slimming studio, nail, massage,.......... I do not understand why then they left the professional salon furniture in the place on Hang Bong and chose to use the hammered-together, big-effect-with-least-cost furniture that is in the new place. Then, It never happened to me that the stylists were double-booked, that is: you had to wait for more than 30 minutes for your "appointment" to start. My impression of this new place (32 Hang Than, for those who want to look for themselves) is that the only thing in common between T&G and this salon is that some of the staff have worked on 69 Hang Bong before. Does anybody know if the place on Hang Bong is really closed? I think it it worth a look. Maybe it is still operational, just with different staff.

I went to a place calling themselves Toni & Guy on 1A Nha Chung St, right opposite the cathedral. I only had a wash and blowdry (because I get my hair cut at Vudoo's) and it was ok but nothing flash. Expensive, 200k and took about an hour. The main guy, who was cutting someone's hair, spoke good English. They do a very good hairwash with a bit of a head massage but is hard to relax because of the noise factor outside and also there is a very pervasive smell of dried fish and cigarettes. Mmmm... But if you're after T&G, they apparently do exist in Hanoi!

Hey for the info ! it has been more than 3 years I have been here and have tried all places where T&G are supposed to be. They don't exist ! Only banners and fake T&G's products are used to make believe this. Go to the salon in Hanoi Towers, it is the only consistently well trained staff and professional place that delivers to Westerner's expectations without breaking the bank. Plus they are very polite and friendly. All the best.
