I'm looking for a) a laptop or maybe desktop computer, hopefully 2nd hand, if not, how much should i be paying for new??
when i do, (& this is embarassing), could anyone spare the time to talk me thru how to download & store mp3s, podcasts etc & get them onto someting portable?
I'll buy them a drink! Thanks

You should seriously way up the costs. It could work out cheaper for you to fly with Air Asia to Bangkok and go to Pran Thip Plaza. As for the talk thru, no worries Toto, we all started somewhere. Ill gladly assist you.

I had checked out The Big C, Vincom Towers and Trang Tien Plaza but they had a very limited range. I bought a brand new Acer Laptop for $800 USD from a shop on Ly Nam De street (computer street), just on the edge of the old quarter (sorry I can't remember the name of the shop). I found that it's hard to buy genuine software but the store that I bought it from gladly istalled all the cracked (dodgy) versions on the computer for me. There a heap of stores there selling new and second hand computers so if you've got a few hours to trudge the shops and ask around for prices, I'd say there would be your best bet.
