Hi Guys I will be heading to Van Giang, Hung Yen Province sometime soon for work. I am not familiar with this place as such I would appreciate if you guys could help me out.

1) How far from 'old quaters' to the place I mention?

Van Giang is about 20km from Hoan Kiem, on the east side of the Red River, past Bat Trang (pottery village).

There are places to stay on that side of the river in Gia Lam. Finding an apartment on that side of the river shouldn't be too expensive, and the hotels have a bit of a bad reputation.

1. If you choose national highway 5, it's about 30~40km. Over Thanh Tri bridge then you'll be there.
2. Keep going for about 10km then you'll get to the center of Van Giang and you can find some motels there.
